If you’re looking for a picture-perfect way to close out August near Detroit, Blake’s Sunflower Festival is back this weekend.
The annual event invites visitors to wander through sunflower fields, snap photos and spend the day enjoying family-friendly activities at the farm.
This year’s festival also features 100+ artisans, live entertainment, yoga, children’s activities and all-day access to Barnyard Funland.

When is Blake’s Sunflower Festival taking place near Detroit?
Blake’s Sunflower Festival is happening at Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill, 17985 Armada Center Road in Armada, Michigan, about an hour from downtown Detroit.
The festival kicks off this Friday, August 28th, and runs through Sunday, August 30th, before returning for a second weekend from September 5th through September 7th.
Festival hours are 10 am to 5 pm on Fridays, 10 am to 6 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and 10 am to 5 pm on Labor Day.
That means Detroit-area visitors have two holiday weekend opportunities to experience the sprawling sunflower fields and everything else on the festival lineup.
What can you expect at Blake’s Sunflower Festival?
Of course, the main attraction is the chance to walk through acres of sunflowers and stop at farm-themed photo stations along the way.
Admission also includes access to an open-air artisan market with 100+ vendors, free demonstrations, daily yoga sessions and children’s activities, including animal shows, crafts and glitter tattoos.
Families can also enjoy all-day access to Barnyard Funland, which features more than 20 activities such as a petting farm, jumping pillows and a sports zone.
For an additional charge, visitors can participate in DIY workshops or purchase sunflowers, wildflowers, fruits and vegetables through the farm’s U-pick offerings.
There will also be live music, yard games, festival merchandise and sunflower-inspired food, drinks and sweet treats to enjoy throughout the event.
How much are tickets to Blake’s Sunflower Festival?
General admission is $12 per person on Friday, August 28th.
Tickets cost $14 per person on Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day.
Children 2 and under can attend for free and do not require a ticket, while parking is also free with admission.
Your ticket includes access to the sunflower fields, photo opportunities, artisan market, Funland and many of the festival’s scheduled activities, although certain extras—including DIY workshops and U-pick flowers and produce—cost extra.
