Detroit’s legendary car culture is getting a brand-new gathering place just in time for one of the biggest automotive weekends of the year.
Goodyear has announced the opening of Goodyear Motor City Garage, a first-of-its-kind retail concept store designed to be much more than a traditional tire shop, bringing together shopping, vehicle service, and community under one roof.
Inspired by destination retail experiences like premium flagship stores, the new location aims to give enthusiasts a place to browse, relax, and connect while also taking care of their vehicles.
The concept debuts ahead of the 2026 Woodward Dream Cruise, making it one of Detroit’s newest attractions for anyone passionate about cars—whether they’re lifelong gearheads or simply looking to learn more about automotive culture.
What is Goodyear Motor City Garage?
Goodyear Motor City Garage is the tire company’s first-ever retail concept store, created specifically with car enthusiasts in mind rather than simply functioning as another auto service center.
The new location is at 3075 East Grand Blvd. in Detroit and officially opens to the public during Woodward Dream Cruise weekend on August 15th.
Rather than focusing only on repairs, Goodyear says the space is meant to become a community gathering spot where visitors can explore the company’s history, learn about the latest tire technology and spend time surrounded by automotive culture.
The concept draws inspiration from experiential retail destinations like a Starbucks Reserve Roastery or Nike House of Innovation, creating an environment where people can hang out as much as shop.
The store also celebrates Detroit’s deep connection to the automotive industry, including Goodyear’s own history dating back to 1901, when the company supplied tires for Henry Ford’s famous 999 race car.
Visitors will also find unique Detroit-themed displays, including a one-of-a-kind laser-engraved Eagle racing tire created as a tribute to the Motor City’s automotive legacy.

Even if you don’t need new tires, the new Motor City Garage is designed to be worth a visit.

- A full-service auto center offering tire installation, oil changes, alignments, brake service, battery replacement, free inspections and preventive maintenance.
The concept is especially appealing for people who have always wanted to get more involved in the car hobby but haven’t known where to start.
Instead of feeling like a standard repair shop, the space is designed to encourage visitors to browse, ask questions, discover new products and immerse themselves in Detroit’s automotive heritage.
The opening also coincides with Goodyear’s major Dream Cruise celebration, which will feature the rare appearance of two Goodyear Blimps flying over metro Detroit for the first time in nearly 20 years, adding another memorable attraction to one of the world’s largest automotive events.
