Won’t you take me to Flavortown?
Have you heard of a ghost kitchen? While not an entirely new concept, they’ve been cropping up around the nation in response to the need for more delivery options as we continue to deal with the pandemic. Ghost Kitchens are delivery-only, temporary brands who set up shop in a communal building where everyone’s doing delivery. Sort of like the Food Truck craze back in 2008, except this is a lower-cost, lower-risk way of experimenting. No expensive truck purchase or repair needed. And Mr. Guy Fieri himself, chef, host of “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” and mayor of Flavortown, has opened up his own ghost kitchen right in Metro Detroit. At this joint, they’re serving up classic American dishes with that flavorful Guy Fieri pizzaz, delivered right to your front door. This is Guy’s Flavortown Kitchen.
Operating in Patridge Creek at the mall from 11a.m. to 9p.m., the kitchen is open for Grubhub, Postmates, UberEats, DoorDash, and Seamless users. Try their take on chicken parmesan they call the “Chicken Parme-roni” that comes with pepperoni red sauce, mozzarella and breaded chicken on a bed of spaghetti. They’ve got some other funky classics like the Bacon Mac N’ Cheese Burger with something called “Donkey Sauce,” mac n’ cheese, and crispy onions. Then end things on a sweet note with a “Cheesecake Challenge” dessert, which is essentially a mountainous cheesecake slice topped with salted potato chips, pretzels, and fudge.
Guy’s Flavortown Kitchen is expanding across the East Coast as well, and since we’re not sure how long they’ll be around, make sure to try it out before it’s gone.
