Now that we are deep in the Autumn there are so many fun seasonal activities around Detroit!
Whether you want to get in on some fun Fall activities like apple picking or want to get into the spirit of spooky season, we’ve got you covered!
1. American Speed Festival at the M1 Concourse
From Thursday, October 3rd, to Sunday, October 6th, the 2024 American Speed Festival is an event that gearheads or speed freaks should not miss!
The event will feature race cars from every era, giving a unique opportunity for motorsport fans to see some of the sport’s most iconic cars in motion and if you purchase the experience, you can even drive one of them!
2. Visit the DIA for its temporary exhibit, ‘Ofrendas: Celebrating el Día de Muertos 2024’
Opening on September 28th and closing on November 3rd, this limited-time exhibit at the Detroit Institute of Art celebrates the traditions and history of one of the most important holidays in Mexican culture, Día de Muertos.
The exhibition will display several fully adorned Ofrendas, which are traditional altars dedicated to deceased loved ones and family covered with items in their honor that may include things like their favorite snacks, drinks, mementos, and of course pictures.
The displays are unique in every household but themes like flowers, sugar skulls, and hand-cut paper designs (papel picado) are common and consistent throughout Mexican culture.
3. Get into the spirit of ‘Spooky-Season’ by seeing iconic Halloween tunes performed by classical instruments
Attending one of the Candlelight Concerts that takes the most iconic sounds and songs of ‘spooky season’ and turns them into classical music is one of the most unique and fun ways to celebrate Halloween in the D!
You are not going to want to miss out, so here are three shows that are slated to happen around Halloween later this October.

4. Zoo Boo event at the Detroit Zoo
Taking place on multiple dates throughout October, Zoo Boo is one of the best family-friendly ways you can celebrate Halloween with your little ones this year!

At the Cider Mill here you can find some incredible seasonal treats like cider donuts or fresh apple cider.

This family farm location is filled with seasonal activities for picture-perfect family fun this fall!
Typically hosting a variety of U-Pick apples on the farm, later in the season you can purchase already picked apples directly from the barn and partake in other activities like their corn maze or their petting zoo filled with kid-friendly animals.

With over a half-dozen different types of apples available to pick, Spicer Orchards is a must-visit destination for this classic Autumn activity.
In addition to their U-Pick apples, they also have several other fun family-friendly activities including a corn maze, tractor rides, farm animal visits, and more!

With their U-Pick apples available through mid-October, if you haven’t had a chance to go apple picking this fall, this place is a great spot to do it!
The farm also offers some delicious goodies at their cider mill store, including fresh apple cider that is good to freeze and enjoy all year round, or their delicious cider donuts!

6. Take part in the Halloween Stroll at Canterbury Village
Just under an hour from Detroit is the iconic Canterbury Village, one of the most seasonally spirited spots in the entire state of Michigan!
During Spooky Season they are hosting a “Halloween Stroll” that is meant to be fun and family-friendly while maintaining the spirit of a truly haunted Halloween.

7. Get tickets to LCA to see the Pistons or Red Wings start their season!
With the start of the 2024 season for both the Pistons and Red Wings, there’s no better way to will our teams into success this season than by showing up and cheering them on.

8. Get your Jack-o’-lantern at one of these pumpkin patches around Detroit
Along with apple picking, heading to the local pumpkin patch is one of the iconic Autumn activities that you can’t skip out on.

9. Attend the Detroit Harvest Fest & Food Truck Rally at the Dequindre Cut Greenway
Taking place on October 5th and 6th will be Detroit’s iconic Harvest Fest & Food Truck Rally!
The event will fill the Dequindre Cut from Jefferson to Wilkins with over 50 fantastic food trucks and vendors, plus there will be a long list of family-friendly fun activities to participate in.
10. Head to ‘Enchanted: A Magical Halloween Experience’ presented by Glenlore Trails
Starting on September 20th and ending around Halloween, Glenlore Trails is presenting ‘Enchanted: A Magical Halloween Experience‘ in Commerce Township just about 45 minutes from Downtown Detroit.
The fit-for-all-ages event is perfect for all audiences and will feature a few wandering wraiths, frolicking fairies, and the occasional wayward witch of the woods!
11. Take your taste buds on an adventure at Dining in the Dark
If you’re a picky eater, this might just sound like the scariest thing you can do this Halloween, but in reality, this three-course blindfolded dining experience will be tailored to your preferences when you reserve your spot!
