Just a 30-minute drive from downtown Detroit, UWM Field in Utica, Macomb County, is a state-of-the-art ballpark that has hosted everything from baseball games to dazzling fireworks shows and open-air candlelit concerts. You might remember it as Jimmy John’s Field, but in early 2026 it was renamed as part of a new 10-year partnership with UWM. The rebrand came with a $2 million facelift, bringing fresh and exciting upgrades to the venue. So what’s new beyond the new name and investment? We found out below.

UWM Field in Utica: What’s new?
The headline change is the new, state-of-the-art synthetic turf field. Thanks to this new addition, the field needs much less maintenance, and most importantly for the fans, rainouts are now a thing of the past.
More upgrades, this time on the technological side, include new camera technology built in throughout the venue to monitor and support player development. Fans will also notice a sleeker, more modern scoreboard as well as the superior quality sound system—two new features that make every game feel bigger than ever.
Rounding out the upgrades is the giant marquee that was unveiled back in January. It welcomes fans entering the stadium with bright, bold ‘UMW Field’ lettering, so it’s clear to see that Jimmy John’s doesn’t run things around here anymore.
Things to do at UWM Field 2026
Baseball at UWM Field Utica runs all summer long (from May to September), hosting the big four home teams—the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers, Eastside Diamond Hoppers, Utica Unicorns and Westside Woolly Mammoths. Ticket prices range from $7–$9 for lawn seating to $35 for seats on the front row.
Candlelight concerts at UWM Field are another welcome addition to the ballpark’s schedule. These candlelit tribute concerts led by classically trained musicians pay tribute to a range of artists and genres. This September, the Listeso String Quartet will bring the music of Coldplay and Imagine Dragons to life right on the infield. You’ll hear string versions of “Clocks,” “Radioactive” and plenty more familiar songs, just totally reimagined through a classical lens and performed in an open-air ballpark.
