A Motor City edition of the iconic board game Monopoly seems like something we never realized we needed until now!
The Detroit version of this family-favorite tabletop game will feature iconic Detroit institutions, local landmarks, and probably a whole bunch of incredible insights and references that only true Detroiters can appreciate!
How can you submit recommendations for the Detroit edition of Monopoly?
To submit your recommendations to the Detroit edition of Monopoly, it’s a fairly simple online form that you have to fill out!
The questionnaire has you submit up to five local locations that you think should be included in the gameboard! These can be anything from iconic buildings, notable parks, stadiums, or anything else that you think deserves recognition; all you have to do is submit the name of the location, what type of location is it (museum, landmark, stadium, etc), and finally a short description as to why you think that location should be included in the Detroit version of this famous board game.
For your submissions to be seriously considered, the locations should have strong ties to the local community, a rich Detroit history, a sense of history and credibility, or be a source of engagement with the local community.
How many local spots are going to be featured in the Detroit edition of Monopoly?
The board game should feature between 15 to 20 local locations in the game, these could include local organizations, landmarks, museums, or sports venues, just to name a few. These locations could mentioned on the game’s board itself or in the cards used to play the game.
When can I buy the Detroit edition of Monopoly?
The Detroit edition of Monopoly is expected to be released at the latter end of 2024 but no exact release date has been announced yet. The fact that recommendations for locations are still being accepted online is an indication that the final design of the Detroit version of the board game has not yet been confirmed.
Spokespeople from the team behind putting together the Detroit edition of Monopoly have also said that there will be a special themed event to celebrate the launch of the game before its release, but once again an exact date has not yet been confirmed.
