Looking for a fun way to get your holiday shopping done, or just want to make plans with your friends or family to get you out of the house? Then the timing couldn’t be better, because these holiday markets are all opening back up right now and are a surefire way to have a fun time!
1. Downtown Detroit Markets – Cadillac Square
The Downtown Detroit Markets is the premier holiday destination for anyone in the metro area of Detroit. It’s got fun stores from local shops and boutiques, an outdoor ice rink nearby, and of course, Cadillac Lodge, where you can get hot cocoa or something with alcohol if you’re over 21.
On Friday, November 17th, the area will be flooded with visitors coming to see the 20th annual Downtown Detroit tree lighting ceremony.

2. The Big, Bright Light Show – Downtown Rochester
Rochester’s 18th annual “Big, Bright Light Show” goes on between November 20th and January 21st, 2024. It is a yearly tradition where all the businesses on Main Street cover their front with a wall of lights, creating a mesmerizing series of colors cascading through Downtown Rochester.
They also take part in what is called “Lagniappe“, which is where the shop owner gives a small gift to their customers whenever they buy something from their store. This will take place on November 20th from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

3. Holiday Magic Marketplace – Royal Oak
This year, on Thursday, November 30th, you can visit over 60 different vendors, witness the local community tree lighting, and even visit Santa Claus with your little ones. The one-day holiday market event is packed with things to do for everyone and will take place between 4 pm and 9 pm.
There will be seasonal drinks to keep you warm and plenty of things to do for everyone in the family, so no need to leave anyone behind!

4. Holiday Stroll at Canterbury Village – Lake Orion
While this may not have all the shops that some of the other markets have, there is certainly no shortage of holiday spirit. If you can make your way to the Lake Orion area north of Detroit, the Holiday Stroll at Canterbury Village is the perfect outdoor holiday event complete with lights, songs, Santa and so much more.
It’s open to visit from late November until late December on select dates, so be sure to check their website and purchase your tickets for whatever date you’d like to go in advance.

5. Eastern Market’s Holiday Market – Eastern Market
While the Eastern Market is open year-round on Saturdays, during the holiday season they are adding four market days for you to get all your holiday shopping done before it’s too late. Those days include:
- Tuesday, November 21 – Thanksgiving Food Shopping 9 am – 3 pm, Shed 3
- Sunday, November 26, 10 am – 4 pm, Sheds 3, 4 & 5
- Sunday, December 3, 10 am – 4 pm, Sheds 3, 4 & 5
